WIC-authorized grocery stores continue to be paid for WIC purchases
A partial government shutdown is in effect. A government shutdown occurs when parts of the government close due to lack of approval on the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Although the WIC budget is impacted by the shutdown, Colorado WIC has enough funding on hand to maintain normal operations until the end of the year (December 31, 2018). Colorado WIC remains open and clinics are running as usual. WIC-authorized grocery stores continue to be paid for WIC purchases and families can continue to shop for and buy their WIC foods.
We are working with our partners, WIC families and community members to reinforce the message that WIC remains open and that families can continue to get their WIC foods. Please assist by emphasizing this message to your store staff and to your WIC shoppers.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will let you know as soon as we know more. If the shutdown lasts for longer than a few days, Colorado WIC will work with retailers to minimize disruption for you, your staff and WIC shoppers.
